Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of thelatexlab.com and any services provided by The LaTeX Lab (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By placing an order or using our website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Services Overview

The LaTeX Lab provides professional document formatting and conversion services for academic and research purposes. Our core services include:

  • Paper Pack — Word or PDF to LaTeX conversion for journal and conference papers
  • Thesis Pack — Thesis and dissertation LaTeX formatting to university templates
  • Build Doctor — LaTeX compilation error diagnosis and fixing

All services are performed manually by experienced LaTeX professionals. Delivery timelines and pricing are outlined on our Pricing page and confirmed in your individual quote.

2. Placing an Order

To place an order, you must submit your document and project details through our quote form, email, or during a scheduled call. Once we review your submission, we will provide a fixed-price quote, estimated delivery date, and scope of work. Work begins only after you confirm the quote and complete payment.

We reserve the right to decline any order if we determine the project falls outside our area of expertise or cannot be completed within the requested timeline.

3. Pricing and Payment

All prices are quoted in USD and are fixed at the time of the quote. We do not charge hourly. The quoted price covers the complete scope of work, including the revision rounds specified for your service tier.

Payment is due in full before work begins, unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept payments through our supported payment processors. We do not store your credit card or payment details — all transactions are handled securely by third-party payment processors.

Add-ons such as rush delivery, OCR for scanned PDFs, or additional revision rounds are priced separately and disclosed before confirmation.

4. Delivery

We deliver completed files via email. Standard delivery timelines are:

  • Paper conversion (up to 20 pages): 72 hours
  • Thesis formatting (up to 200 pages): 10 business days
  • Error fixing: 24–48 hours

These timelines begin after payment is confirmed and all required files and instructions are received. Rush delivery is available as a paid add-on. If we anticipate any delay, we will notify you promptly and provide a revised delivery date.

5. Revisions

Each service tier includes a specified number of revision rounds:

  • Paper Pack: 1 revision round included
  • Thesis Pack: 2 revision rounds included
  • Build Doctor: Unlimited revisions until the file compiles successfully

A revision round covers adjustments to the original scope of work — such as formatting corrections, template alignment issues, or compilation fixes. Revisions do not cover new content additions, changes to the source document after delivery, or switching to a different template.

Additional revision rounds beyond the included allocation can be purchased as add-ons.

6. Compilation Guarantee

All deliverables are tested for compilation before delivery. We guarantee that your LaTeX files will compile without errors in Overleaf or a standard TeX Live installation. If the delivered files fail to compile in your environment due to an issue on our end, we will fix it at no additional charge within 24 hours.

This guarantee does not cover compilation issues caused by modifications you make to the delivered files, incompatible local packages, or non-standard compiler configurations.

7. Intellectual Property

Your documents, research, and content remain your intellectual property at all times. We make no claim of ownership over any files you submit or any work product we deliver to you.

Upon delivery and full payment, all rights to the formatted LaTeX output are transferred to you. You are free to use, modify, distribute, and submit the delivered files without restriction.

We do not use, publish, or share the content of your documents for any purpose other than completing your order.

8. Confidentiality

We treat all submitted documents and project details as confidential. We will not share your files, research content, or personal information with any third party, except as necessary to complete your order or as required by law.

We recommend removing highly sensitive, classified, or export-controlled content from your documents before submission. While we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission is completely secure.

9. Refund and Cancellation Policy

Before work begins: If you cancel your order before we begin work, you will receive a full refund.

After work has begun: If you cancel after work has started, we will assess the work completed and issue a partial refund at our discretion, based on the percentage of work delivered.

Dissatisfaction with deliverables: If the delivered files do not meet the agreed scope of work, we will revise them at no charge within the included revision rounds. If we are unable to resolve the issue after exhausting all revision rounds, we will offer a partial or full refund on a case-by-case basis.

No refund is available for completed orders where the deliverables match the agreed scope, the files compile successfully, and the template has been correctly applied.

10. Your Responsibilities

When using our services, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete source files and instructions at the time of order
  • Specify the correct target journal, conference, or university template
  • Communicate any deadlines clearly before work begins
  • Review the delivered files promptly and submit revision requests within 14 days of delivery
  • Ensure that you have the legal right to submit the documents you provide to us

Delays caused by incomplete files, unclear instructions, or late communication may impact delivery timelines and are not covered by our delivery guarantee.

11. Limitation of Liability

The LaTeX Lab provides document formatting and conversion services only. We are not responsible for:

  • The academic content, accuracy, or originality of your documents
  • Journal or university submission outcomes, including acceptance or rejection decisions
  • Issues arising from modifications made to delivered files after delivery
  • Loss of data due to circumstances beyond our control

Our total liability for any claim arising from our services shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific order in question.

12. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use our services for any unlawful purpose or to submit documents that contain illegal content, plagiarized material, or content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others. We reserve the right to refuse or terminate any order that violates this policy.

13. Modifications to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of our website or services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Gurugram, Haryana, India.
